ANN ARBOR (WWJ) – A woman is facing charges after a parallel parking dispute almost led to gun violence in downtown Ann Arbor near the University of Michigan campus over the weekend.

Ann Arbor police officers were called to the area of Liberty and Maynard Streets around 11:30 p.m. Saturday after receiving a report of a woman yelling that she had a gun.

When officers showed up, they found two cars stopped in the middle of Liberty Street and two women yelling at each other.

Officers determined the argument stemmed from a parallel parking dispute when one woman, 25-year-old Candice Huddleston of Milan, was trying to park on Liberty when the other woman pulled up behind her in a white SUV, preventing her from backing into the spot.

Huddleston got out of her car and confronted the other driver and pulled out a gun, according to police.

Video evidence shows Huddleston pointing the gun directly at the victim’s head, according to police. Authorities later found a gun near the driver’s seat of Huddleston’s car.

No injuries were reported.

Huddleston was arrested at the scene and taken to the Washtenaw County Jail. She is facing charges of carrying a concealed weapon, assault with a dangerous weapon and brandishing a firearm in public.
