An icy drizzle shut down numerous freeways across metro Detroit Tuesday morning and jack-knifed at least three semi-trucks.
And it reportedly caused an 18-year-old Pontiac woman in a Chevy Impala to lose control of her vehicle, cross the center line on northbound Sashabaw Road near I-75 and slam head-on into a Michigan State Police trooper's patrol car.
The collision was severe enough to deploy air bags in both vehicles, officials said. The female driver and her passenger suffered minor injuries, but refused treatment.
The trooper was uninjured, officials said.
