LSU women's basketball is 16-0. They're ranked No. 5 in the country. But don't be fooled: There's still a long way to go.

Because Kim Mulkey didn't return to Louisiana and take the reins at LSU just to win games. Here plan was to put LSU back on the map with much bigger ambitions, which she shared this week on SportsTalk with Bobby Hebert and Mike Detillier.

"We haven’t done anything except win games, and that’s not what I came here to do," Mulkey said. "I came here to rebuild an elite program that used to be in Final Fours. And these games do matter, but if you keep perspective, we haven’t done anything yet, and that’s the humbleness that I carry into that locker room.”

That said, Mulkey won't apologize for her team's strength of schedule in the non-conference. It was a schedule built prior to several wins in the NCAA Transfer Portal and when the team only expected to have one starter returning.

“Whatever your schedule is … I'm not apologizing for that. Go win and go win handedly if you’re the dominant team," Mulkey said. "All this NET and RPI and non-conference schedule, you can break it down all you want. At the end of the day, just win baby, that’s what it’s all about."

The Tigers don't have any wins over teams currently ranked in the top 25. But that hasn't mattered to start SEC play. They're 3-0 win an average winning margin of nearly 30 points per game.

“Every detail matters, and yet I do want people to understand it is only our second year here. And I think people see 16-0, boom, we’ve arrived. We’re ranked 5 in the country, our NET is 2. Whoo, look what that woman has done. I don’t view it that way. We based a non-conference schedule based upon who we thought we had coming back. One starter.”
