LSU football is headed to the SEC Championship. That's guaranteed.

Their end-of-season ambitions are not, though. That'll hinge on how the Tigers finish off their regular season, beginning with a home finale against a 5-5 UAB Blazers squad that would be more than happy to play spoiler against the No. 6 team in all the land.

"This is a UAB team that their record does not really reflect who they are," said Evan Dudley, UAB beat writer for AL.com on SportsTalk with Bobby Hebert, Kristian Garic and Mike Detillier.

One of the reasons for that is the circumstances of their losses. Due to a variety of issues, particularly untimely turnovers, all five of the Blazers' losses have come in one-score games. As Brown puts it, just 27 points is what separates 5-5 and a perfect 10-0.

This is a Blazers team that boasts one of the most prolific rushers in the entire NCAA in DeWayne McBride, who has already rolled up 1,407 yards and 17 touchdowns. His 156.3 yards per game average is No. 1 in college football this season. It's also an offense that takes shots where it can.

The Blazers need a win in their final two games to become bowl eligible, which will make this a desperate group. But Brown still doesn't see that as enough to make this a particularly competitive matchup without LSU tripping over its own feet.

"If they can limit their turnovers, UAB might be able to cover [the 14.5-point spread] but I think ultimately the talent will, you know, take hold in the second half," Dudley said.

LSU and UAB will kick off at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19. The late kickoff will be broadcast on ESPN. LSU will also be honoring 17 seniors prior to the game. The Tigers finish off their season on the road against Texas A&M on Nov. 26.
