More bad luck for Myles Brennan. LSU announced that the quarterback suffered a left arm injury that will require surgery.
“Myles Brennan suffered a severe injury that will require surgery,” LSU coach Ed Orgeron said. “His timeline is yet to be determined. Myles has done everything we have asked of him this summer and was in the fight to be the starting quarterback at LSU.”
Brennan got his shot at the starting QB job a year ago, playing in the first 3 games and passed for 1,112 yards and 11 touchdowns before an oblique injury sidelined him for the remainder of 2020.
The extent of the injury and the needed surgery are both unclear. The injury is to Brennan's non-throwing arm, a minor silver-lining so far as his potential availability for the Tigers this season. Before the announcement Brennan had been locked in a quarterback competition with rising sophomore Max Johnson to determine who will take the starting job when LSU opens against UCLA on Sept. 4.
