The plaudits are stacking up for an LSU women’s basketball team that could prove to be one of the greatest in the school’s already rich history.
In just her second season heading up the Tigers, Kim Mulkey has been named a semifinalist for the Werner Ladder Naismith Women’s Coach of the Year.

One year after completing the greatest single season turnaround by a first-year coach in SEC history, Mulkey has LSU as one of the national championship frontrunners at 28-2.
LSU began the season 23-0 before finally taking a loss, the best start in program history. They would finish the year 27-1, their only loss coming at the hands of the nation’s only still-unbeaten team South Carolina.
Mulkey’s Tigers also set an all-time attendance record at the PMAC for any sport this season when they drew 15,721 fans for their home finale against Mississippi State.
LSU will learn its March Madness seeding, draw and first-round opponent this Sunday during the selection show on ESPN.
