LSU’s biggest win of the season meant fans storming onto the field to celebrate the 45-20 victory over the previously undefeated Ole Miss Rebels. It also meant a hefty fine.
The SEC announced on Sunday it was fining the university for a “violation of the league’s access to competition area policy due to fans entering the field.”

It is the third offense for LSU under the policy, which is why the cost of the fine is so significant, although the last violation came in 2018 after a win over Georgia.
All fines against schools that violate the access to competition area policy are deposited into the SEC Post-Graduate Scholarship Fund.
A first-time offense garners a penalty up to $50,000 while a second offense can reach up to $100,000. Third and subsequent offenses reach up to the $250,000 mark LSU was fined.
