It didn't take long for the first big play of the LSU spring game. In fact, it came on the first play.
QB Jayden Daniels dropped back and unleashed a ball toward Kyren Lacy in the middle of the field that was a bit overthrown. Lacy, a senior from Thibodaux, reached up with his right hand and snagged the ball for a remarkable highlight to kick off the day.

The icing on the cake was the run after the catch, with Lacy breaking multiple tackles into the end zone for a 70-yard touchdown.
It's a positive sign for the Tigers, which will be looking for players to step up in the wide receiver room after the departures of Kayshon Boutte and Jaray Jenkins. Malik Nabers, who nabbed a touchdown in red zone drills and later a long pass over the middle early in the spring game action, profiles to lead that group. Behind him there will likely be some combination of the returning Lacy, Brian Thomas Jr. and Chris Hilton Jr.
Daniels will enter the season as the clear starter at QB, with Garrett Nussmeier serving as an elite backup option in Brian Kelly's second season in Baton Rouge.
