Yes, Tennessee's mascot dressed up as 'Tiger King' for LSU showdown; take a look

The reference may be a bit dated, but Tennessee's mascot, Smokey, hit it right on the nose with his outfit for the Vols' showdown with LSU.

He was dressed up as "Tiger King."

Well, more specifically he was dressed up as Joe Exotic, the infamous and tiger-obsessed lead character of Netflix special that gained national attention early in 2020.

The getup included a wavy blond wig, a shiny teal and silver jacket, blue slacks and his standard Tennessee hat. He was also spotted around LSU's fan section carrying a stuffed tiger.

The LSU-Tennessee showdown drew headlines as a potentially testy affair due to comments made by Tigers coach Paul Mainieri regarding the Vols' fans in attendance during the teams' series earlier in the season. Mainieri on Friday apologized if his words were taken as an insult, but no issues emerged throughout the first four innings and a rain delay on Saturday.

The teams were tied 1-1 after the 4th, and the crowd was roaring throughout, in the opener of the three-game set. The winner will punch its ticket to the College World Series in Omaha.
