The slow-developing saga of the Alvin Kamara court case stemming from the 2021 Pro Bowl weekend appears to be moving forward.

A grand jury has indicted Kamara and three others this week, according to a report from 8NewsNow, in the court case involving an alleged assault outside a nightclub elevator in Las Vegas.

The incident occurred on the eve of the Pro Bowl, which Kamara participated in the next day before he was taken into custody by authorities. The indictment included charges of conspiracy to commit batter and battery resulting in substantial bodily hard. His three codefendants include Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Chris Lammons. The indictment means the case will now move to Las Vegas district court, with a date scheduled for March 2.

The assault victim, Darnell Greene, has also filed a civil lawsuit in Louisiana.

The cloud of the looming litigation hovered over Kamara throughout the entirety of the 2022 NFL season, but it was delayed repeatedly and didn't impact the Saints in any meaningful way. Kamara, 27, participated in 15 games throughout the season, but spoke to the media sparingly and would not answer any questions regarding the incident.

NFL discipline will typically be handed down after a case is adjudicated, and it's possible that happens this offseason. Pending the outcome of the case, a lengthy suspension for Kamara would be expected.
