Few sights are more encouraging than QB1 back on the field, and that was the case for the Saints during their second joint practice with the Packers.

Winston was out with the team on Tuesday but when drills began he had shed his pads and did not participate, which had been the case since he left with a foot injury in the week leading up to the preseason opener.

That wasn't the case on Wednesday, with Winston going through drills with his teammates for the first time, and showing no clear limitations from the injury.

Check out some footage of Winston below:

Head coach Dennis Allen spoke about Winston's injury on Tuesday and indicated he was headed in the right direction, qualifying his status as "day-to-day." The team will continue to play it safe in that regard.

Winston didn't appear in the preseason opener against the Texans, and it's unclear if he'll get any action on Friday against the Packers. If not, it'll be some combination of backups Andy Dalton, Ian Book and K.J. Costello.
