It took a few weeks longer than they'd hoped, but the New Orleans Saints got their man. His name is Eno Benjamin.

The Saints claimed the 23-year-old running back off waivers after he had been sent packing by the Houston Texans earlier this week. New Orleans had put a claim in on him previously following his release from the Arizona Cardinals, but they were beaten out by Houston in the waiver priority.

The news was first reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter.

That means the 4-9 Saints can get a look at the intriguing young back over the final four games of the season, with veteran RB Mark Ingram likely to miss the remaining four games with an ACL issue.

Benjamin was a 7th round pick of the Cardinals out of Arizona State back in 2020 and has been productive when called upon. In his career he's logged 418 yards and 3 touchdowns on 107 carries (3.9 YPC), along with another 226 yards on 30 catches.

The strongest performance in Benjamin's young career came against the Saints on national TV in Week 7. He racked up 92 rushing yards and a touchdown on 12 carries, while adding another 21 yards on four catches, a performance that likely weighed heavily on the Saints front office's minds when they opted to bring him in. Benjamin was a surprise cut by Arizona in mid-November, a decision that reportedly stemmed from the decision to drop him down the depth chart with starter James Conner returning from injury.

Benjamin saw action in just one game for the Texans, logging 1 yard on 3 carries in a loss to the Cowboys.
