The team is next interested in meeting with Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, according to Jeremy Folwer of ESPN, and an interview could take place as soon as this weekend.

Bieniemy, 52, has interviewed for several head-coaching gigs over the past few offseasons, his reputation burnished by helping to develop quarterback Patrick Mahomes and by guiding the Chiefs' high-octane offense, including a win in Super Bowl LIV.

Last month, it was reported Bieniemy interviewed for the Denver Broncos' head-coaching job, though Packers offensive Nathaniel Hackett was eventually hired.

The Saints so far are confirmed to have interviewed former Dolphins head coach Brian Flores, Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, and former Eagles head coach Doug Pederson, who was reported on Thursday night to have accepted the Jaguars' head coaching job.

New Orleans is seeking to replace former longtime head coach Sean Payton, who stepped down after 16 seasons with the team.

Bieniemy, a former Chargers, Bengals and Eagles running back, has curiously been left out in the cold for head coaching jobs despite earning wide praise as a coordinator.

His case and others have seen renewed scrutiny this week following Flores' bombshell lawsuit, in which he accuses the NFL and its teams of racial discrimination in hiring and retaining Black and minority coaches and executives.

In the suit, Flores frequently cites Bieniemy's well-documented history of being snubbed for a top job.

Bieniemy was hired by the Chiefs in 2013, serving as running backs coach through 2017. He was promoted to offensive coordinator in 2018, and has generally been considered one of the league's top assistants since.

Glenn previously served as the Saints' defensive backs coach from 2016-2020, before joining the Lions as defensive coordinator last season.

The Saints were also expected to interview defensive coordinator Dennis Allen, according to reports.
