The New Orleans Saints are revising their open practice schedule due to extreme heat.

The team announced the changes Tuesday afternoon, following the first three open practices held outdoors at the team facility in Metairie.

“The safety of our fans, team, staff and all those who work to make open practices possible are our first priority,” said Team President Dennis Lauscha in a news release. “Based on the Heat Warnings facing our community we have altered the practice schedule to allow our fans to show their support for the team while also reducing their exposure to the significant heat being forecasted over the coming days.”

The adjusted schedule will still include outdoor work, but it will begin at 10 a.m. and run for approximately one hour. The earlier portion of practice, including stretches and individual drills, will be held indoors.

Gates will now open for fans at 9:15 a.m. The private club and suite holder practice originally scheduled for Aug. 2 will now take place on Aug. 9. The team also encourages fans who are more susceptible to heat-related issues to consider not attending.

The next three practices open to fans are scheduled for Friday, Aug. 4, Saturday, Aug. 5, Sunday, Aug. 6 and Thursday, Aug. 10.
