The Saints put the pads on again Tuesday, but with no fans in the seats, they opted to finish out the day indoors after an outdoor start.
That was planned after several practices that began indoors then went outside to battle the Louisiana heat.
"Thought our guys pushed through that [heat], that was difficult," Allen said, "and I thought it really picked up as we came back inside and got some good team work in.”
TAKING ATTENDANCE
Andrus Peat wasn't in attendance after suffering a quad injury on Monday. Otherwise there were no absences. TE Lucas Krull left at one point and returned, OL Scott Lashley also left practice and did not return.
A TIGHT END DAY
It was a busy day for the tight end position, and not just Jimmy Graham. Lucas Krull, Jessie James, Juwan Johnson and Foster Moreau each got in on the act.
“They all contributed … and not just little bitty dumpoffs, but significant gains," Bobby Hebert said.
NEPHI SEWELL FLASHING
For the second consecutive offseason, Nephi Sewell is beginning to stand out at linebacker. He's always a factor on special teams, but he's got a nose for the ball that will show well once the games start.
“When the Chiefs come to town, first preseason game and he’ll be very active. … When the game is all said and done I could see him having 8-10 tackles, he’s that active of a player,” Hebert said.
NEXT UP
The Saints are back in pads on Wednesday with practice closed to fans before a day off on Thursday. Fans will be back in attendance on Friday, though the pads will come off for a session in shells.
