Saints will have 10-day training camp trip to California; no joint practices

The New Orleans Saints will be back out in California for their 2025 training camp, but this time only for 10 days.

The trip will be wrapped around the team's preseason opener against the L.A. Chargers on Aug. 10, Kellen Moore announced, but won't feature joint practices. The trip will span from Aug. 6-15.

"It's just kind of a change of scenery for our guys," Moore said. "When we're here, obviously, it's our normal environment. ... It allows the guys to bond."

Practices will again be held on the campus of UC Irvine, where the team spent the majority of training camp last season. The offseason program will begin at the team's facility in Metairie, and will resume there once the team returns home.

The decision seems to follow the trend of team bonding that Moore has emphasized, which included cancelling the final day of minicamp practice in lieu of a team outing to Five-o-Fore golf in New Orleans. Hunter Dekkers was tasked with making a three-pointer in the team meeting room to win the day off, though Moore said that if he'd missed, there'd have been some more shot opportunities.

"Thankfully we didn't have to go down that road," he said.

The decision was made based on what coaches said were high-level practices out in the heat on Tuesday and Wednesday.

With that decision, the next time we'll see the Saints on the field for practice will be when they open training camp in late July.
