There is a comeback story unfolding for Foster Moreau, and it will be happening in his hometown of New Orleans.

The former Jesuit and LSU standout has agreed to a 3-year, $12 million deal with the Saints, according to a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter. Of that total, $8 million is guaranteed with $3 million in incentives.

The deal not only fills a clear need for the Saints, but also marks a return to the NFL for Moreau just months after he was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma after a physical conducted by Saints doctors. Moreau announced at the time that he would be stepping away from the NFL to battle the disease, but vowed to beat it and return.

That appears to be the case, with Moreau medically cleared and expecting to play in the 2023 season, according to the report.

The deal also reunites Moreau with his former quarterback in Derek Carr, who also signed with the Saints this season. The Saints also signed former Raiders WR Bryan Edwards to compete in camp. Moreau, a 4th round draft pick of the Raiders in 2019, played with Carr for four seasons 2019-'22, catching 91 passes for 1,107 yards and 12 TDs.

The team opted not to draft a tight end in a 2023 draft that was loaded at the position, instead opting to ship out Adam Trautman in a trade to the Broncos, making the need for a blocking TE all the more clear. The rest of the TE depth chart includes Juwan Johnson, who was signed to a 2-year, $12 million extension this offseason, Taysom Hill, Miller Forristall, Lucas Krull and UDFA Joel Wilson out of Central Michigan.

The Saints' next step in the offseason will be rookie minicamp from May 12-14, followed by three sets of optional Organized Team Activities, then a mandatory minicamp in June, followed by the full training camp in late July.
