Michael Thomas hurt his ankle week one and has been a lingering issue for the Saints wide receiver. The team put him on injured reserve in hopes that he’d be ready to roll come the postseason.

But, head coach Sean Payton says it’s still not clear if Can’t Guard Mike can play Sunday against the Chicago Bears.

“I’m going to see what this week holds,” Payton said this morning. “Currently, he’s still on reserve/injured. I know he’s been working at it and trying to get back. But, we’ll get a better idea this week on the progress he’s made and hopefully that’s significant.”

Thomas has not been himself during the 2020 regular season due to the ankle injury combined with a hamstring issue he also dealt with. Much like Alvin Kamara a year ago; the All-Pro receiver fought to get back on the field, but only managed 40 catches for 438 yards and zero touchdowns in 7 games.

The first injury report comes out later today, but until Thomas is activated off IR, the Saints do not need to indicate his practice status.
