
Police in New Orleans are dealing with a spike in armed carjackings across the city. They are investigating two separate carjackings, which happened within two days.
The recent happened at 2:52 a.m. in the 800 block of Saint Andrew Street.
According to NOPD, a ride share driver picked up two men along Toledano Street. When they arrived to their destination, one suspect demanded the driver’s vehicle at gunpoint. When the victim complied, the suspects fled in victim’s vehicle.
The other carjacking happened at 4:46 p.m. Wednesday evening in the 13200 block of Willowbrook Drive.
Police say armed robbers demanded the victim’s car keys. When the victim tried to run away the suspects allegedly pushed him to ground, striking him several times with an unknown weapon. The suspects later fled in victim's vehicle. The victim was transported to hospital by EMS. He condition is unknown.
