New Orleans Police today announced an arrest in the murder of 28-year-old Asia Davis. Davis was shot and killed last week in New Orleans East where Mayo Boulevard meets South I-10 Service Road.
"Through investigation, detectives positively identified Henry Talley Jr. as the perpetrator in this incident," police said in a statement.
"He was apprehended by VOWS and the U.S. Marshals this morning in the 2600 block of Governor Nichols Street. Talley was booked into the Orleans Justice Center on charges of second-degree murder."
Police say the case remains under investigation, and anyone with information should call NOPD homicide at (504) 658-5300, or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111 or toll free at (877) 903-7867 (STOP).
Callers to Crimestoppers do not have to leave their names and may be eligible for a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest and indictment.
Davis was one of several women who were victims of violence in New Orleans in recent days. New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell's comments in the wake of the crimes drew criticism from victims and their families. The mayor today apologized.
