Authorities in St. Charles Parish say people who suffered damage in Wednesday's tornado can come get a hot meal and eventually some money.

"Red Cross will be set up at the Killona Volunteer Fire Department to provide breakfast and lunch to tornado survivors. The Parish is also working with the United Way of St. Charles to collect monetary donations," officials said in a news release.

Those interested in donating can visit the United Way of St. Charles’ website at https://www.uwaysc.org/give and comment “Killona & Montz Tornado Recovery”.

Parish President Matthew Jewell asks residents to continue to avoid areas of Killona and Montz while recovery efforts take place today.  Schoolhouse Road in Killona remains closed.

"Parish employees, emergency personnel and utility services are working to remove debris and restore power to the affected areas."

Residents in need are encouraged to contact the EOC at 985-783-5050. Additionally, resources are available through the Red Cross, which can be reached at 1-800-733-2767, or contact local caseworkers with Catholic Charities at 504-452-2615.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Alexander and Raymond families, and all affected by yesterday’s tornado in Killona and Montz,” President Matthew Jewell said. “At this time, we are working with numerous
agencies to ensure our residents are able to get everything they need throughout the recovery process.”
