A Carnival season culinary tradition will take a temporary one-year hiatus in 2023, but for good reason.

Chef Frank Brigtsen, owner of Brigtsen's restaurant made the announcement, and gave the reason why, in a post on Facebook.

"There will be no Riverbendymion this year," Brigtsen wrote in the post. "Brigtsen’s will be closed on Sat Feb 18th because…I have been chosen to reign as King of the Krewe of Lafcadio marching parade that day!"

Brigtsen goes on to say that his wife Marna will serve as his queen and that his sister-in-laws- Rhonda Madach and Sandra Hanson will be duchesses.

The Krewe of Lafcadio will march through the French Quarter starting at Antoine's at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 18.
