The pandemic may have killed Mardi Gras parades but it did not kill the Carnival spirit in the hearts of New Orleanians.

Publisher of the Mardi Gras Guide, Arthur Hardy says there may not be any parades this Mardi Gras but there are still unique celebrations happening throughout the city, that revelers can enjoy.

“There is some other fun stuff going on -- the krewe of Red Beans has sponsored this ‘decorate your house like a float’ contest and I think you are going to see a lot of creativity this year. We won’t have parades but we are still going to have some fun,” said Hardy.

Hardy says the Funny Forty Fellows will still hold their streetcar ride on twelfth night. While Mardi Gras amid the pandemic will look different, Hardy says the Carnival spirit survives.

“Yeah we are down, but we ain’t out buster, and watch the come-back Carnival next year we are going to blow it out,” said Hardy.
