Jazz Trumpeter and convicted federal felon Irvin Mayfield has been released from prison after serving less than a year.
Mayfield had been sentenced to 18-months for defrauding the New Orleans Public Library Foundation of 1-point-3 million dollars.
Mayfield's co-defendant and business partner Ronald Markham plead guilty in November 2020 to mail and wire fraud.
They funneled money meant for the library through Mayfield’s New Orleans Jazz Orchestra and into their pockets for their personal use.
No word on whether Mayfield plans to return to performing in the immediate future.
