New Orleans City Councilmember Jared Brossett has been arrested for driving under the influence for a second time.
Councilmember Brossett was arrested Monday morning for driving under the influence according to WWLTV and the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office.

According to WWLTV, a police report says an officer was flagged down and found "passed out behind the wheel” of his vehicle at the Brother’s Express Food Mart on Elysian Fields Avenue around 2:30 in the morning. The engine was still running and officers had to remove him from the vehicle as the news outlet reports.
Brossett allegedly refused to take a field sobriety test and officers say he had a strong smell of alcohol on him.
While further details of his latest arrest are not released yet, Brossett posted to social media that he was at the Zulu Social Aid and Pleasure Club picnic on Sunday. It is not clear if he was drinking at the picnic, however, Brossett appears to be wearing the same shirt in his post and in his booking photo.
This is not the first time Brossett was arrested for driving under the influence. Brossett’s first arrest prompted the New Orleans City Council to approved new restrictions regarding the use of city vehicles.
Councilmember Joe Giarrusso spoke to WWL’s Tommy Tucker about Brossett’s second DWI arrest and the city’s policy change on city-owned vehicles that followed Brosett’s first arrest.
“My guess is as a result of, not only the policy but just good sense, now that he has had this issue, it’s going to be a problem for him,” Giarrusso told Tommy. “And really, but more importantly what is the help that he needs to seek to move forward?”
In a WWLTV interview back in June, Brossett apologized after he crashed his city-owned vehicle in his first arrest and agreed to enter a rehabilitation program.
“I’ve apologized to my constituents and to the citizens. I’ve approached it head-on. Look, I’m a better man today,” Brossett said.
