If you’re planning on going to any of the Mardi Gras parades scheduled for Saturday or Sunday, you may want to bring your rain gear with you.
The forecast for the weekend is calling for rain sometime on Saturday. Right now, the National Weather Service and WWL-TV are both forecasting the rain to hit the New Orleans Metro Area late Saturday night and continue into the day Sunday.
“(The) timing and intensity of showers/storms is still too uncertain to know impacts to parades,” the National Weather Service’s New Orleans Bureau said in a Facebook post. “[J]ust yet so keep an eye on the forecast!”
"Right now, the highest chance for rain is late Saturday, but timing of the rain is far from set in stone,” WWL-TV’s Payton Malone told WWL’s Dave Cohen on Monday morning. “Expect changes in the forecast and check back daily to see how things are evolving."
Right now, Malone and the National Weather Service are setting rain chances for Saturday at 60 percent and Sunday’s rain chances at 30 percent. High temperatures on Saturday will reach around 68 degrees, while Sunday’s highs will top out around 65 degrees.
