A fight between two girls Monday morning at Hammond High School resulted in one girl being stabbed multiple times, and another girl arrested, the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office says.

Sheriff Daniel Edwards says the fight happened in a bath room just before 10:30 a.m.

"During the investigation, it was discovered one of the juveniles suffered at least three small puncture wounds, all of which were non-life-threatening to the upper extremities," the sheriff's office said.

According to authorities, the student who did the stabbing was found to be in possession of a "key knife," a small, foldable blade.

The offending student was taken into custody and booked in the Florida Parishes juvenile detention center on charges of aggravated second degree battery.

The victim is being treated for her injuries and is in stable condition.
