The city of New Orleans has opened a waste transfer station for residents to get rid of bagged household garbage. Starting today, it can be dropped off at 2829 Elysian Fields Ave.
"Given the demand, residents are advised that there could be long lines and wait times to utilize the transfer station," the city warns.
The transfer station will be open to residents between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily, to New Orleans residents only.
Residents will be responsible for off-loading their garbage at the site. The city is accepting household garbage only. Yard debris, construction debris, appliances, electronics, and tires will not be accepted, and commercial vehicles will not be allowed to drop off waste.
