Violence filled Saturday and early Sunday in New Orleans

The surge in violent crime showed no sign of letting up with a shooting, stabbing, robberies and carjackings Saturday and early Sunday in New Orleans.

Shortly after midnight Sunday morning bullets were flying in the St. Roch neighborhood.

"The victim was approached by an unknown suspect who then shot... multiple times," police reported. "The victim was transported to a local hospital."

It happened in the 1600 Block of Painters Street.

Just before 12:30am two women were robbed in the Marigny.

"The victims were approached by three suspects that demanded their property. The victims complied and the suspects fled."

That was in the 2400 Block Dauphine Street.

A few blocks away, and less than an hour later, three suspects committed a carjacking in the 1000 block of Montegut Street.

"The armed suspects got out of a silver or grey SUV and demanded the victim's car keys, wallet, and additional items. The suspects took the victim's vehicle and fled in an unknown direction."

Minutes later, a short distance away on Royal Street, three suspects in a silver SUV robbed two women and a man.

"Three suspects approached them, brandished their weapons, and demanded the victim's phones and wallets. The victims complied and the suspects fled."

It was in the 2400 Block of Royal Street.

Then just before 6:00am, a woman says another woman robbed her.

It happened in the 2200 block of St. Claude Avenue.

"The suspect brandished a knife and demanded the victim's property. A struggle ensued and the suspect was able to wrangle $200 dollars from the victim. Suspect fled in an unknown direction."

Just before 7:00am, there was a carjacking in the 600 block of N Tonti Street in Treme.  Cops did not immediately release details.

On Saturday there was a stabbing in New Orleans East.

Just after three o' clock Saturday afternoon cops say attackers approached a man in the 9700 Block Chef Menteur Highway.

"The victim was attacked by three unknown suspects," according to an initial police report.

The man says the attackers stabbed him.

"The victim... was transported to a local hospital."
