Newell weighs in on Cantrell’s Krewe of Tucks reaction

WWL’s Newell Normand thinks that New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell needs to take more accountability for a bird-flipping incident that occurred the Saturday before Mardi Gras.

“What about your behavior, mayor? What do you tell kids? That the eye for the eye and a tooth for the tooth is okay?” he asked.

Previously, WWL reported that a member of the krewe raised their middle to Cantrell and that she responded in kind. After the incident, Krewe of Tucks apologized and conducted an investigation that resulted in the member being removed from the krewe.

While Cantrell accepted the apology and told Krewe of Tucks “I love you,” Normand thinks she should also apologize for the interaction.

“It was a golden opportunity. For the mayor herself to say I was wrong as well. I shouldn’t have responded in kind,” he explained.

Listen to Normand break down the situation here.
