Reports say the two arrived in separate cars with their luggage, apparently ready to check in. They had some conversation before the attack, leading Houston Police Chief Troy Finner to believe they knew one another.
Finner goes on to say they have not figured out why the man did it.
The shooting was at the Marriott Marquis Houston near Minute Maid Park. It's widely known for its Texas-shaped swimming pool on the roof.
