Today's blast of winter comes just hours before spring begins, officially.
"It officially starts at 10:06 p.m. tonight, and comes with what I hope is the last gasp if winter," said LSU climatologist Barry Keim.
Keim says the long range outlook for the season calls for a mostly normal one, when it comes to temperatures
"Temperatures are likely to remain near-normal for the next three months, but precipitation is expected to be above normal," he said. "Coming out of that drought from last year, getting some rainfall is certainly a good thing.
Spring is also when we get our severe weather.
"Spring is definitely peak season for tornadic activity," Keim reminds us. "Lots of storm fronts can move through.'
