Heart attack patient killed, woman and 8 first responders injured after fire truck, ambulance collide in Brooklyn

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A fire truck T-boned an ambulance in a Brooklyn intersection early Thursday, killing a man and critically injuring a woman who were in the ambulance, police said.

The crash at Myrtle and Throop avenues in Bedford-Stuyvesant around 1 a.m. also left six members of the FDNY and two EMTs with minor injuries, according to police.


The 59-year-old man who was killed was said to be a heart attack victim who was in the ambulance. A 35-year-old woman—his sister who was riding with him—was critically injured.

The fire truck from Ladder 102 was headed to a fire at the time of the crash, while the ambulance was transporting the heart attack victim to Woodhull Hospital. Both the ambulance and fire truck were driving with lights and sirens on.

The patient, identified as Jamil Almansouri, and his sister were taken to Woodhull Hospital. Two EMTs and six members of the FDNY were taken to Bellevue Hospital.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
