NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Fans of the "Fast & Furious" franchise will make a beeline for the movie theater this weekend, for the opening of the spin-off "Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw."
Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham reprise their roles as crime-fighting agent Luke Hobbs and lawless outcast Deckard Shaw, respectively -- and as unlikely allies -- who are forced to team up against a greater threat: a cyber-genetically enhanced anarchist (Idris Elba) who threatens the future of humanity.
Helen Mirren is back as Shaw's mother. And in the film, we meet Shaw's sister, a rogue secret agent, played by "The Crown" actress Vanessa Kirby.
Speaking of family ties, Johnson's real-life cousin, wrestler Roman Reigns, plays Hobbs' bother, Mateo, in the film.
And there was no nepotism involved, Johnson said, saying recently, "Let me just be clear to everybody. He (Reigns) read for the role because we don't believe in nepotism. We do believe in taking care of each other."
