NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced on Monday that an additional 27 establishments were issued violations.

"While the vast majority of restaurants and bars are in compliance, a few bad actors are not," Cuomo posted on Twitter. "NYS will continue to enforce health laws that prevent the spread of this virus," he added.

On Sunday, Cuomo reported that hospitalizations for coronavirus had again reached a new low as he continued to warn that New York’s success is threatened by noncompliance at bars and restaurants, with more than 100 violations issued in the New York City area alone this weekend.

Cuomo said a task force that includes state police and the State Liquor Authority issued 105 violations at bars and restaurants Friday and Saturday nights, primarily in New York City and on Long Island.

Cuomo said the social distancing violations were issued for crowding outside the businesses, as well as for employees not wearing masks.

The businesses may have their licenses suspended when the State Liquor Authority reviews the violations Monday. The board yanked 10 licenses for social distancing violations just last week.

Businesses found in violation of social distancing regulations face fines up to $10,000 per violation, while "egregious violations" can result in the immediate suspension of their license.

The governor also said New York continues to see a threat from people coming in from 31 states on its quarantine list.

“Don't get cocky, don't get arrogant,” Cuomo said. “There are still threats that are out there. You have the national threat and the compliance threat.”

Meanwhile, the governor said that of the 57,270 tests reported Sunday, 608 were positive.

There were also 11 COVID statewide deaths reported and the total number of hospitalizations are at 642.
