NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – One man was in custody and three other men were still on the loose after a vehicle sped through the East Side of Manhattan on Thursday evening in a bid to escape police.
An attempted traffic stop by police around 5 p.m. sparked the blocks-long pursuit that sent pedestrians running for safety, according to multiple reports.
WCBS-TV obtained video showing the suspects’ vehicle, a black sedan, nearly striking a man and a woman at the corner of 46th Street and Second Avenue.
The car eventually came to a halt near East 44th Street and First Avenue and four people inside took off running, police said.
One of the men was taken into custody, according to police. The Daily News reported the suspect was a 19-year-old man who police chased through Tudor City.
Police were said to have recovered a firearm tossed from the window of the vehicle during the chase.
The three other men in the vehicle were still on the loose Friday, according to multiple reports.
