NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A pair of robbers held up a grocery store on the Lower East Side last month in an incident that was caught on surveillance video, the NYPD said Tuesday.
The two men walked into He Xie grocery store on East Broadway, near Essex Street, around 6:50 p.m. on Aug. 7, police said.
One of the men flashed a gun and demanded cash, at which point both men stole an unspecified amount of cash from the register behind the grocery store’s checkout counter, the NYPD said.
The pair also stole a cell phone, credit cards and a bag from a 59-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman who were inside the store, police said. They fled on foot after the robbery, the NYPD said.
