
NEWBURGH, N.Y. (1010 WINS) – Three people were shot and killed and another person was seriously wounded in what was reportedly a home-invasion shooting in Orange County on Sunday morning.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting aren’t known, but authorities said the break-in happened at a home on Route 300 in the Chadwick Lake Park area of Newburgh shortly before 8 a.m., News 12 reported.
Several people were shot, leaving three of them dead and a fourth person critically wounded, according to WABC, which cited comments from the town supervisor.
Two of those killed are believed to be in their late 20s and a third victim is believed to be a 10-year-old boy.
A 3-year-old boy was seriously wounded but survived, while a fifth person—also said to be a child—was inside the home but not harmed.
A person of interest is in custody, according to WABC. Authorities said there is no threat to the community.
