3 young women die after sedan rear-ends tractor-trailer in New Jersey

WOODBRIDGE, N.Y. (1010 WINS) – Three young women were killed in a crash with a tractor-trailer in New Jersey on Friday night, police say.

The three women were in a Nisan Altima that rear-ended the tractor-trailer as it pulled away from a stoplight near Ford Avenue and Route 1 in Woodbridge just before midnight, according to police.

Two passengers—23-year-old Michaela Powell and 24-year-old Uchechukw Chukwuma—were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, identified as 23-year-old Brianna Martinez, died at Robert Johnson Medical Center, ABC7 reported.

All three women are said to be from Somerset.

The truck driver stayed on the scene and is cooperating with authorities. No charges have been filed at this time.
