NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A person was fatally struck on Thursday by an unknown vehicle on Woodhaven Boulevard and then struck by other vehicles driving on the road, police say.

Officials say they found a body of a 56-year-old man lying on the street shortly after 5 a.m. at the intersection of Woodhaven Boulevard and 92nd Avenue in the Woodhaven section of Queens.

"It's dangerous for anybody to cross the street," said Luis, who works in the neighborhood. "By the day, you see accidents on this corner.'

The victim was dragged almost 300 feet and pronounced dead on the scene. Officials said that the body was dismembered, indicating several cars ran over him.

Good Samaritans used their cars to block part of the road in order to prevent anyone else from hitting the victim.

Police are still looking for the driver of the vehicle that first struck the victim.
