NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- James McPherson, the acting undersecretary of the Army, has been tapped to replace acting Navy secretary Thomas Modly, who submitted his resignation Tuesday, after he dismissed and insulted Captain Brett Crozier of the USS Roosevelt for criticizing the Navy's response to the coronavirus situation on the ship.

Modly submitted the letter of resignation to Defense Secretary Mark Esper after meeting with him Tuesday. It was initially unclear if Esper had accepted it, but shortly afterwards, word broke that McPherson was tappned as the replacement.
