NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – An air conditioning meltdown at the Bergen County Jail has drawn protesters as heat and humidity reach dangerous levels.
Bergen County Sheriff Anthony Cureton says the AC went out in two areas of the detention center around 9:30 p.m. Friday.

Detainees were put in areas with working AC while the issue was quickly repaired, Cureton said. RealFeel temperatures in the Tri-State this weekend are forecast to reach 110 degrees.
But protesters remained outside the jail, trying to bring attention to what they say is ongoing neglect, especially of Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainees like Inocencio Roman Solano.
According to the Daily News, Roman Solano has advanced liver disease and type 2 diabetes.
Daniel Altschuler, with immigrant advocacy group Make the Road New York, says Roman Solano is in bad shape.
"Because of the neglect that he's faced, his health has deteriorated rapidly. He's at risk of amputation of one of his limbs," Altschuler said.
Sheriff Cureton said in a statement that the AC was fixed and that it's being monitored.
