NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Amazon may have ditched its plans in February for a second headquarters in Long Island City, but that doesn't mean it's not interested in expanding its presence in the city.
The Seattle-based company is hunting for office space in Manhattan, and one of the options it's entertaining is the former Lord & Taylor flagship on Fifth Avenue, a historic 12-story building now owned by WeWork, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing people familiar with the search.
According to the newspaper, Amazon "has held talks with WeWork Cos. to lease as much as the entire 12-story building," as well as only a portion of it.
The current state of discussions is unclear, the Journal reported.
Amazon has also considered the Farley Post Office, located across from Penn Station.
Amazon's initial plans for Long Island City was slated to cost $2.5 billion and generate at least 25,000 jobs over a decade.
Neither Amazon or WeWork would comment.
