NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Amazon has told sellers that it will only offer warehouse service for household products, medical supplies and other in-demand products until Apr. 5.
Sellers on the platform have the option of storing their merchandise in the company's fulfillment centers. NBC News reports that Amazon informed its sellers of the change in storage in an email on Tuesday.
"We are seeing increased online shopping and as a result some products such as household staples and medical supplies are out of stock," Amazon wrote.
"With this in mind, we are temporarily prioritizing household staples, medical supplies and other high-demand products coming into our fulfillment centers so that we can more quickly receive, restock, and ship these products to customers."
Products that will qualify include groceries, baby products, household goods, beauty products and pet supplies.
Amazon said Monday that they would hire another 100,000 warehouse and delivery employees to meet the increased demand in online retail, according to the New York Post.
