NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Amtrak has temporarily suspended service between New York City and New Haven due to a freight train derailment in the Bronx.
The freight train derailed in the Bronx around 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday after one of its cars hit a utility pole, PIX 11 reported. No one was injured, but the derailment caused an electrical outage, according to the outlet.
"Due to an earlier freight train derailment, all Amtrak service between New York (Penn Station) and New Haven (NHV) is canceled until further notice," Amtrak Northeast tweeted at 7:40 p.m. "We will provide updates as more information becomes available."
