NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- An attacker put a 59-year-old man in a chokehold, threw him to the ground and punched him repeatedly before stealing $300 from him, leaving him with a broken rib, the NYPD said Monday.
The 59-year-old man was inside a residential building near Barker and Arnow avenues, in the Allerton section of the Bronx, around 7:50 a.m. on Aug. 5 when the robber attacked him, police said.
After the attack, the robber stole $300 from the man's pants pocket, then fled the scene, the NYPD said.
The victim checked himself into a nearby hospital with a broken rib the next day, police said.
Police are now searching for the attacker, who was last seen wearing a black tank top, black sweatpants and black sneakers.
