NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Bed Bath & Beyond on Friday identified the first 63 of 200 stores that are closing -- and three of the locations are in New York City.
Two stores are in New Jersey and four stores are in Connecticut.
The first batch of stores will close by the end of this year.
The announcement, first reported by USA Today, comes two months after the New Jersey-based company -- which also operates buybuy Baby, Harmon Face Values and World Market -- said it was scaling back its brick-and-mortar presence.
"As we rebuild our authority and establish a truly omni-always shopping experience for our customers, we recently announced a store optimization plan that will see us establish the right network of stores to serve our customers," company spokeswoman Jessica Joyce said in a statement to USA Today.
