NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A bill in New York state that would increase tuition assistance for Gold Star families, the children of dead or injured veterans, is stalled in an Assembly committee in Albany.

That's got President Donald Trump's attention.

He's been tweeting about it, saying Democrats blocked the measure after approving aid for illegal immigrants.

In New York State, Democrats blocked a Bill expanding College Tuition for Gold Star families after approving aid for illegal immigrants. No wonder so many people are leaving N.Y. Very Sad!

He goes on to say "No wonder so many people are leaving N.Y. Very sad!"

The bill has actually passed the state Senate twice but on Tuesday never made it out of a state Assembly committee.

The bill would provide additional assistance to that already offered.

The committee did approve new assistance for Dreamers, children raised in this country but still undocumented.
