NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A walk in the park turned out to be anything but, for a 55-year-old woman visiting from Virginia.
She was hit by a branch that fell from a tree in Washington Square Park.
RELATED:
Authorities say she was out for a walk with her teenage son around 9 p.m. when the branch fell. Her son was not hurt.
The parks department inspected the tree on Tuesday morning, and found that has a fungus.
Records show the tree was inspected two years ago, determined to be in fair condition, and trimmed about a month later.
