NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police arrested a Bronx man on Thursday for allegedly walking down the street wearing a bulletproof vest and carrying a grenade launcher, the NYPD said.
Officers from the 46th Precinct noticed Edison Cruz, 23, walking near Andrews Avenue and 179th Street in University Heights around 11 a.m. on Thursday holding the launcher, police said Friday.
Cruz, who lives in the neighborhood, was arrested soon after, the NYPD said. He faces charges including criminal possession of a weapon and violation of local law, according to police.
Following Cruz' arrest, the NYPD said it obtained a search warrant and found a shotgun, firearm receivers, drill bits, manufacturing tools, a firearm manufacturing template, a shotgun barrel and stock, a hatchet and glock parts inside his apartment.
His attorney information wasn't immediately available Friday.
